ADMINISTRATIVE PLACEMENT PROCESS (COACH CENTRIC)

APPLICABILITY:

Challenger Division
Tee Ball Division
Coach Pitch Division
Modified Player Pitch Division**
Traditional Divisions with League Age(s) 04 thru 09

  • The GLL Registration Director shall place players on teams within these divisions by utilizing the administrative process listed below.
  • Assigned coaches at these age levels are highly encouraged to create teams & recruit players to their teams by relying upon existing community relationships - friends, family, neighbors, classmates.
  • An Evaluation & Draft Process is not required or performed for players in these divisions **.   Players in these divisions do NOT participate in the Evaluation Day assessment**.
  • **Reference EVALUATION/DRAFT Process for Players of League Age 08 or 09 **

  • Assigned Player(s)
    • An Assigned Player is a prospective player that (1) has been offered a roster spot from an Assigned Head Coach appointed to the Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, or Modified Player Pitch Division(s), and (2) has properly registered before the KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE.
    • An Assigned Player (within the tee ball division, coach pitch division, or modified player pitch division) has a guaranteed roster slot.
    • An Unassigned Player (within the tee ball division, coach pitch division, or modified player pitch division) DOES NOT have a guaranteed roster slot.
    • A prospective player that was offered a roster spot but did not properly register before the KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE automatically forfeits and loses the opportunity/benefit of being considered an Assigned Player.
    • All prospective players that properly register within these divisions after the KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE will be considered Unassigned Players.  
    • Note:  Assigned/Unassigned players do not exist in the Majors or Minors Division, as those divisions are formed via an EVALUATION/DRAFT process.
  • Unassigned Player(s)
    • An Unassigned Player (within the tee ball division, coach pitch division, or modified player pitch division) DOES NOT have a guaranteed roster slot.
    • The Registration Director shall administratively place Unassigned Players in these Divisions, upon the rosters of new or existing teams, using a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE SPACE AVAILABLE PROCESS.
    • The calendar date of the completed registration will be the placeholder utilized when placing Unassigned players.
    • Information collected during the registration process will be utilized to place Unassigned players - including coach/friend/team requests and geographic elementary school areas.
    • The Registration Director shall endeavor to place all Unassigned Players upon an existing team, or create new teams as applicable based on player/coach interest and field availability.  However, the GLLBODs does NOT guarantee that parent/guardian requests will be granted.  The GLLBODs reserves the right to place Unassigned players upon teams at their sole discretion
    • Additional teams will not be formed unless parents/guardians are willing to volunteer as a head coach or assistant coach - please reference coaching information [COACH].
    • Any remaining Unassigned Players not placed on a team will be provided with a full refund at the earliest possible convenience, as well as references for neighboring youth baseball associations.


  • Team Roster Size

    • Tee Ball Division, Coach Pitch Division, and Modified Player Pitch Division

      • Number of Players Per Team - Total
        • Minimum Required = 10
        • Goal = 11
        • Maximum Allowed = 12
      •  Maximum Allowable Difference
        • The number of players on any team roster in these particular divisions shall not vary by more than 1 player [Little League Regulation III].
