Team Formation – Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, and Modified Player Pitch
Applies to: Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, and Modified Player Pitch divisions.
Teams in these divisions are formed administratively, not through an Evaluation/Draft.
-
The GLL Registration Director places players on teams in these divisions using the process below.
-
Assigned coaches at these age levels are
encouraged to build teams by recruiting through existing community relationships (friends, family,
neighbors, classmates).
-
An Evaluation & Draft is
not used for Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, or Modified Player Pitch. Players in these divisions
do not attend the
Evaluation Day assessment.
-
Players of League Age 8 or 9 may choose to be directly placed on a Modified Player Pitch team,
or may choose to be Minors draft eligible (see the
Evaluation/Draft Process for Minors eligibility).
Assigned Players
-
An Assigned Player is a prospective player who:
- Has been offered a roster spot by an Assigned Head Coach in Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, or Modified Player Pitch, and
- Has completed registration before the
KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE.
-
Assigned Players in these divisions have a guaranteed roster spot.
-
A player who was offered a roster spot but did not register before the
KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE
automatically loses Assigned Player status.
-
Any player who registers in these divisions after the
KNOW THE COACH CUTOFF DATE is considered an
Unassigned Player.
-
Note: Assigned/Unassigned player status does not apply in Minors or Majors. Those divisions
are formed exclusively through the
Evaluation/Draft process.
Unassigned Players
-
An Unassigned Player in Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, or Modified Player Pitch
does not have a guaranteed roster spot.
-
The Registration Director will place Unassigned Players on new or existing teams using a
first-come, first-served, space-available process.
-
The calendar date of completed registration is used as the primary factor when placing
Unassigned Players.
-
Information collected during registration (coach/friend/team requests, elementary school area, etc.)
will be considered when placing Unassigned Players, but specific requests
are not guaranteed.
-
The GLL Board of Directors may place Unassigned Players on teams at its sole discretion based on
player numbers, coach interest, and field availability.
-
Additional teams will only be formed if parents/guardians volunteer as head or assistant coaches.
For coaching information, see
COACH.
-
Any Unassigned Players who cannot be placed on a team will receive a full refund as soon as possible,
along with information about neighboring youth baseball associations.
