The GLL/GJBA BODs highly values individual sportsmanship characteristics over all other player attributes. Sportsmanship is loosely defined as the individual aspiration that competition will be enjoyed with consideration for fairness, ethics, integrity, and respect, and done so with a sense of fellowship for teammates and other competitors.
Assigned coaches from each GLL team are asked annually to collectively identify one player from the team (but not a coach's kid) that most exhibits the values of sportsmanship. One player from each team is recognized with an individual Sportsmanship Award (plaque, and potential small gift) in front of the entire organization and the player's family/friends/peers during the annual end of season Closing Ceremony.
